The Mabou & District Athletic Centre
The Mabou & District Athletic Centre is a non profit , community commission run, inclusive facilty that has been proudly serving Mabou & surrounding communities since 1971-72. The Mabou Arena was the first arena in Inverness County outside of the town of Port Hawkesbury. The Athletic Centre is devoted to promoting physical activity and strives to provide a safe location for community members of all ages and skill levels to meet (social network), participate in sport (skill development), or recreational activities.
Located at 186 Mabou Harbour Road a short distance of Route 19, the Athletic Centre is a member of the Recreation Facility Association of Nova Scotia www.rfans.com. The ice is made in October and the plant is shut off mid March. The Centre has 5 dressing rooms, a hospitality room, canteen, skate sharpening, referee room & fitness centre. Home ice to Mabou Minor Hockey Teams, Mabou Tigers. The Athletic Centre offers recreational skates to persons of all ages and skill levels.
The Mabou & District Athletic Centre requires that all ice users wear a helmet, no matter their age and or skill level.
Private ice rental are available for birthday parties and family events and ice times are available for outside teams, for more information call 945-2378.
During the off season (June, July, August, September & part of October) stop by on Sundays for the Mabou Farmer's Market from 11 to 2pm, for more information on the Farmer's Market check out their website www.maboufarmersmarket.ca.
Register your children in the Mabou Athletic Centre summer soccer program, or the youth summer recreation program, usually running 3 days a week (Monday,Wednesday & Friday) children 4 and up welcome.
If you are interested in booking the arena during the summer months for a reunion or gathering of another sort please contact 945-2378.
